Since graduation I have been working as a freelancer for a number of clients. The solutions I have created have been made in a variety of mediums; animation, logo and book design to name a few. My freelancing is ongoing and I hope to add more projects when clients give permission.
1. Edukonexion (animation)
2. Interior Design Yourself (logo)
3. Sixteen Days. (book cover)
4. Certified (book cover)
Edukonexion offers students global learning opportunities. As a freelancer, I was asked to create an animation for Kathryn Abell (Edukonexion Director). The video told Kathryn's story and why her users should look to her for advice on global learning opportunities.
The final outcome reflects the wishes of Kathryn, to create a video that really shows her personality. The process required storyboarding her life, as well as choosing an appropriate colour palette and animation style. Kathryn was very pleased with the final outcome and it can be seen on her Edukonexion website.
Interior Design Yourself
An E-design start-up came to me with the challenge of naming and branding their company. Their goal is to deliver tailored interior design to their customers all without face to face contact. The customers they are looking to work with are individuals who want to have a hands on experience of interior designing, with the guidance from the team.
Interior Design Yourself (IDY) is an E-design company that offers an affordable, fast and tailored interior design service. Customers will be able to bring their interior design goals to life.
Victoria was looking for a cover that would capture the identity of her book 'Sixteen Days.'. The book tells the story of the 16 days after the death of a family member and how people deal with grief in different ways. Victoria told me that people showed acts of kindness and she was particularly hoping for a design with flowers on.
I decided to use black and white to show the contrast between life and death with the flowers the key imagery. I was inspired for the design by scanning in flowers. I then arranged 16 of them to make an outline of a girls face to show the acts of kindness being because of her.
Roger was looking for a cover that would capture the identity of his book 'Certified'. His book is made up of three stories; One Unexpected Birth, One Hapless Wedding and One Bizarre Death. Roger wanted a cover that showed the different ways we are certified in life with birth, marriage and death certificates the most relevant to his stories.
After reviewing certificates I noticed the significance of the Royal coat of arms, a crest found on legal documents. I decided to make my own crest that combined all three of his stories.
